When applying to adopt an animal, please allow us time to review, process and set up a home visit. We are all volunteers doing this in our spare time. The average time is 1-2 weeks from start to approval. The more information you provide, the faster we can go. When you omit phone numbers or other vital information, it will delay processing.
You must be at least 21 years of age to apply and legally sign our contract for adoption. If you are not at least 21 years of age, please do not apply. Applications must be completed by the home owner. We do not adopt giant breed dogs to renters. If you are renting, and you are applying to adopt a dog that is not a giant breed, permission to adopt an animal must be obtained from the landlord or property owner.
Processing your application will include a background check, verification of property ownership, a records check with local animal shelters/animal control agencies, a veterinary record check, and telephone interviews with the references listed on your application.
Our fees for each dog will vary based on the dog's specific age and needs. That can range from $150 to $500. We do require that you do a basic obedience class with your adopted dog. This will ensure the best chances of a lifetime fit.
Please only submit ONE application. Once submitted, your application can apply to any dog posted on this site except selected courtesy postings where that agency will require their own application to be completed.
POLICY REGARDING “HOLDING” ANIMALS FOR ADOPTERS:
If you are applying for a certain animal, please understand that you are expected to take possession of the animal upon completion of the adoption screening process. Mastiffs To Mutts Rescue does not “reserve” or “hold” an animal for convenience purposes. If you have an upcoming vacation or other event that may affect your ability to take custody of the animal, please inform us at the time of completing your application so we can find the best fit for you.
For any animal that Mastiffs To Mutts Rescue may choose to make convenience arrangements, please be aware that boarding charges may apply for each day the animal is held. Boarding fees must be paid in advance and are not refundable. The boarding fee does not apply to animals that must be held for vetting or other needs as determined by Mastiffs To Mutts Rescue.
