Romeo and Juliet were found at a trailer park living on their own with no owners. Some local people gave them food occasionally but both were full of worms and very thin when the shelter picked them up. We are currently trying to get to the bottom of Romeo's ear infection. Below is what the trainer had to say.
Dominant/Assertive behaviors (forces playtime/attention, tries to get into mischief to get attention, paws at people or noses them to get attention, will also bring toys and try to force them to play) Will need exercise daily and will need to be taught commands to give him a "job" so that he does not become bored and get into things, gave recommendations to Carrie on different toys that can help with this.
Not food motivated (he does respond very well to a certain ball and has accepted that as a reward system, very similar to K9/military training)
Prey Driven - this creates problems with small animals in the home (cats, rabbits, birds or others)
Displays potentially protective qualities but is very affectionate
Is very smart and does pick up quickly on new behaviors
Would need to be with a confident person that would be willing to work with him and not rely on food to motivate
