Half-Pint
Not your typical couch potato.
Sense of humor -- and dog-behavior savvy -- required.
Great Dane, female, 1.5 yrs old, 105-110 lbs. Great with dogs & playful cats. She loves loves loves to play and has boundless energy to wrestle with doggie friends of any size. She bounces around like a puppy! Half-Pint has completed basic obedience training and walks well on a leash. She does not like being left alone or crated but it is necessary as she can be destructive when left unattended. She loves riding in the car and is always ready to go wherever & whenever. Play groups and the dog park are necessary daily. She swims, too! If you have another dog with a low-tolerance for a large, playful girl, don't apply! A good sense of humor is required to live with Half-Pint. When she is feeling confident, she is very curious and expressive -- she will make you laugh! And, you will never shower alone again! Half-Pint can be fearful of some men and when in new situations. No children under 16 years old. Fenced-in yard preferred. Half-Pint likes to put everything in her mouth so she must be monitored closely to ensure she does not ingest unsafe/harmful items (rocks, chunks of asphalt, cat litter, sticks, toys, acorns, etc). She will also use her mouth to play with you... we're still working on this undesirable behavior. Half-Pint has food allergies so a specific diet is required (Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Diet: Sweet Potato and Fish... treats, too).... and she eats A LOT due to high activity and a high metabolism.
Half-Pint is vaccinated, microchipped, spayed and is on monthly heartworm prevention.
Application Fees, Adoption Donations and Rescue Policy: Please know that 100% of our funds are used for rescuing the dogs.
Our rescue policy requires the following:
- Adopters must have their primary residence in one of the following states: Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, and parts of North Carolina.
- Applications for giant breed dogs must be submitted by the property owner.
- Homes with children under 6 years of age will not be approved for adoption.
- Homes with children should have a fenced yard.
- Pets currently in the applicant's home must have a history of appropriate veterinary care. Veterinary records will be checked.
- All references must be checked before any visitation of the dog is permitted at the foster home.
- All family members must be present during the home visit to the applicant's home.
- Any dog(s) in the applicant's home must have an introductory meeting with the rescue dog being considered, before any adoption can be completed.
