HEADLINER: Big Bear the sweet, goofy love bug.

HISTORY: Bear came from a loving home with many dog siblings. Unfortunately for his family, they were forced to downsize their pack for financial reasons. He was well-cared for and came to us healthy, happy and well-adjusted.

PERSONALITY: Bear’s heart is as big as his name! Super sweet boy whose greatest joy is getting affection and playing with those around him. Loves to carry around his stuffed dog toys, play ball and tug-o-war, wrestle with his foster siblings and sleep! Bursts of activity followed by long naps on the floor or dog bed (he’s welcome on the couch, but prefers to stay on the ground!). Housebroken and knows basic commands like sit, down and has good recall. Has good manners with his doggy siblings, shares toys and bones well and eats peacefully beside them at mealtimes. Even though he’s the biggest guy in his foster home, Bear is actually rather submissive with the other dogs in the household. Nervous around new people, he greets them with some big barks and avoids contact until he feels comfortable. Not a fan of the Roomba or the computer printer – they get some loud barks until they quiet down! When he’s really excited, he can be mouthy and gently nip (which can feel like a pinch if he gets you) – his foster family is working on teaching him more constructive ways of self-regulation.

FAVORITE ACTIVITIES: Following the humans in his family around from room-to-room, playing fetch, carrying stuffed toys, chewing bones and playing with the other dogs in the house. Goes to bed each night with his foster family and sleeps on the floor by the bed. Also enjoys a gentle face massage while hearing praise and loving words of affirmation. If you’re lucky, he’ll give you a kiss.

MEDICAL ISSUES: None.

WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST KIND OF HOME: Bear really enjoys love and attention and would do best with a family who has some time each day to give that to him. Both parents in his foster family work, and the kids go to school. He does fine with his doggy siblings when no one is home.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Bear is a joy to be around. Big dog, even bigger heart.
