Great Dane (short coat) : : Male (neutered) : : Adult : : X-Large Learn more about the Great Dane.
Thunder is a very chill, laidback boy. He takes a bit to warm up to new people, but he takes cues from his foster dog brother to make sure it's okay. Likes: He enjoys relaxing on the couch, following his people around, and snuggles. Dislikes: He dislikes being alone. Thunder HATED being separated for the first 2 weeks and still prefers being with people and his fur brother. Personality: Low-key. Mostly introverted. Thunder keeps to himself and can appear standoffish or disinterested at times. Temperament: Thunder has been perfectly happy allowing his foster brother to be the "alpha." His K9 brother eats first, goes out first, and gets the "good" bed. Energy Level: Low with the occasional zoomies. Favorite Activities: Curling up on the couch, sniffing around outside, and yard naps. Good with cats, dogs, and kids (over 6)? Thunder has done extremely well with his foster dog brother (a senior Dane) and his foster sisters (13 & 11 yo). Kids 6 years and over would be find since he's so laid back. He would do best with a large dog buddy. Not good with: NO cats or small animals. Thunder has a high prey drive and will not be placed in a home with cats or other small animals. Housetrained? Yes! Crate trained? Thunder hates the crate but is totally fine left in the house while he is home alone. Requires a fenced yard (physical fence and/or invisible fence)? Yes - physical fence at least 4 feet, but preferably 6 feet high required due to his high prey drive. Walks well on a leash? Yes. Challenges: Thunder is working on breaking his cat-chasing habit while in foster care. It's a work in progress. Any medical issues? No; Thunder came into foster very thin but is gradually gaining weight. His ribs and spine look SO much better! What would be the best kind of home? Thunder needs a home with another large dog brother or sister to keep him company and give him guidance and social cues. He'd love a laid back home to go with his laid back nature and people that are present more often than not.
