SCARLETT IS LOCATED IN MOUNT CARMEL, PA.

Hello everyone! My name is Scarlett. I am a one-year old Mastiff. People are always telling me how beautiful I am. I have a thick, light-cream coat with a black velvet face mask. Since I have delicate features, I don’t have the typical mastiff drooly jowls…my foster mom loves that about me. I am super sweet and I loooooooove to play. My foster mom tells me I am going to find a family of my very own to love.

Likes: Scarlet loves attention & praise. She loves being touched and will always roll over for a bellyrub. She enjoys lying in the sunshine and watching everything around her. She absolutely LOVES car rides, so if you need the world’s prettiest back seat driver, Scarlett is the girl for you.

Dislikes: Scarlett stayed at an animal control officer’s home just prior to coming to Mastiffs to Mutts. We were told she was not a fan of the family pet pig. So probably no barn yard friends for Scarlett.

Personality: Scarlett is very sweet and curious. She wants to be involved with whatever you are doing.

Temperament: Scarlett goes with the flow. She will play if you want to play, or cuddle on the couch if you want to relax. She is friendly and inquisitive.

Energy level: Moderate. Scarlett enjoys going for walks, running around the yard and playing with her toys. She is a very young dog so she does have “puppy energy” at times.

Favorite activities: Scarlett adores car rides and is a very good girl while riding. She loves napping on the sofa or any other comfy spot she finds. She enjoys sitting in the yard and watching all the activity at her foster dad’s garage. She likes watching the people and machinery. She enjoys going for walks.

Good with cats, dogs, and kids (over 6)?: Feline siblings probably would probably not be a good fit for Scarlett. She may do well with a large, friendly male dog as a play mate. Scarlett is working hard on perfecting her manners but she can get underfoot at times and jump up if she is extra excited so sturdy children would be the best fit for her.

Not good with: Barn yard animals.

Housetrained: Yes!

Crate trained: Scarlett will go in her crate, but because someone is always home in her foster house she does not currently spend much time in a crate.

Requires a fenced yard (physical fence and/or invisible fence)? Scarlett enjoys being outside, so she would really love a fenced yard to play and relax in.

Walks well on a leash? Scarlett walks well on leash. If she sees wildlife, she will try to pull towards it, but she is easily redirected.

Challenges: Since Scarlett considers herself a “foodie”, she will try to check out what is on the kitchen counter. Because she is also very smart, she is making great progress with learning that counter surfing does not count as acceptable house manners.  As Scarlett has become more comfortable, she has also become a bit mouthy and jumpy.  These behaviors will need work with training and patience, as with any puppy or young dog.  Her foster will be happy to discuss her challenges with any potential adopters.

Any Medical issues? None

What would be the best kind of home? Scarlett would thrive with a loving family who involves her in their activities.  If there were children in the home, she would prefer that they were older so they were a bit sturdier - she doesn't like the thought of knocking anyone down with her size.  She is an absolute doll of a puppy who has tons of love and joy to share!

Puppy Adoption Policy:

To ensure proper house training and socialization, puppies will only be adopted to homes where an adult will not be away more than an hour per day, per month of age of the puppy, up to 6 months.

Certain large-breed dogs should not be sterilized prior to 12 - 18 months of age. If you adopt an intact puppy, you will sign an adoption contract agreeing to have the dog sterilized at your expense at the time your veterinarian recommends. Proof of sterilization must be provided to Mastiffs To Mutts Rescue as soon as the procedure is completed. If the puppy is not sterilized as required, Mastiffs To Mutts Rescue reserves the right to claim legal ownership of the dog.
