Mastiff / Mixed (short coat) : : Male (neutered) : : Senior : : Large
Red was originally thought to be a Mastiff but we've learned he's an absolute mix of everything - 19 breeds in fact! You could say Red should be called RED, WHITE & BLUE. Likes: Red enjoys chew toys, all people, meal time and snacks, and lounging. Dislikes: He's a pretty agreeable fellow, but he dislikes when his bowl goes empty after dinner and long walks. ;) Personality: Laid back, affectionate, and friendly. Temperament: Red doesn't like having his nails touched but is treat motivated. With work he'll learn to love grooming. Energy level: Red will follow his humans anywhere but he prefers to be snoozing. He will get a playful bout occasionally where he'll zoom or mouth his person's hand. Favorite activities: Chewing toys, eating, lounging, and giving 80lb dog hugs! Good with cats, dogs, and kids (over 6)?: Red has been great with cats, and loves the neighborhood kids. He likes the company of a dog friend. Not good with: Taking treats gently...he gets a little over excited! Housetrained: YES! Crate trained: YES! Requires a fenced yard (physical fence and/or invisible fence)? Red is currently fostered in a home without a fence and is walking nicely on a 25ft leash. Walks well on a leash? Yes. On a short leash he stays very close to his human. Challenges: Counter surfing and mouthing hands when excited. He's being redirected with "get a toy." Any Medical issues? Red was heartworm positive and recently finished his treatments. What would be the best kind of home? Red has tremendous potential to be a great family dog or dog for an older couple. His only hang up right now is mouthing hands playfully. Red loves watching the world go by with a human or other pet friend. He would prefer less physical activity. He's friendly, quiet, and soooo sweet. RED IS BEING FOSTERED IN MCDONALD, PA.
