Mastiffs to Mutts Rescue, Inc. - MTM |
English Bulldog (short coat) : : Female (spayed) : : Adult
Dorothy is a 5-year-old female English Bulldog. She came to MTM from a puppy mill and is looking to spend the rest of her life enjoying the company and love of a forever family. Likes: Dorothy loves attention. She loves belly rubs and to be around people. She is food motivated. Dislikes: Dorothy has not displayed any dislikes as of yet. Personality: Dorothy is very docile, easy going, loving, affectionate, friendly, gentle, and sweet. Although she does not bark much, Dorothy is far from silent. Her snorting, grunting and flatulence will fill your life with laughter. Temperament: Typical bulldog temperament - Dorothy can be tenaciously stubborn. Dorothy does what Dorothy wants. Energy level: Very. Low. Energy. She is definitely a couch potato! Favorite activities: In typical bulldog fashion, Dorothy loves to eat, sleep and snore. She also loves sunbathing in the back yard and snuggles with her people. Good with cats, dogs, and kids (over 6)?: Dorothy has 2 large breed foster siblings. She is slowly beginning to interact with them and enjoys their company. She is great around children of any age. She has not been around cats. Not good with: Walking on a leash. Housetrained: For the most part - YES. She is doing very well and has only had a few accidents. Crate trained: Yes, Dorothy goes into her crate freely. Requires a fenced yard (physical fence and/or invisible fence)? Not necessarily, but a fenced in back yard has been great since Dorothy is not very enthusiastic about going for walks. Walks well on a leash? Dorothy will let you put her harness on but has no interest in walking. Her foster mom is working with Dorothy to learn how to walk on a leash. Challenges: Dorothy prefers to think for herself. Although smart, she can be a challenge to train. Any Medical issues? Dorothy has chronic dry eye and requires prescription eye drops twice a day. Although not diagnosed, she might have skin or food allergies. Due to potential health problems typical of the breed, it is recommended that Dorothy maintain her weight and take joint supplements daily. Dorothy’s face (wrinkles) should also be kept clean and dry to prevent infections. What would be the best kind of home? Dorothy would be a wonderful family pet to any family, especially one looking for a low - maintenance and low-key dog. If you are an outdoorsy family, this breed might not be for you. If you are looking for a quiet companion who does not need a lot of exercise, is loyal and devoted - Dorothy is your girl! DOROTHY IS LOCATED IN EGG HARBOR, NJ.
