Ruger is an 18-month-old Great Dane with a wonderful personality. He is a bouncy, happy, sweet boy! From the first day in his new foster home, he has settled right in and is adjusting quite well. No aggression whatsoever. Ruger loves playing with other dogs, with children, and adults. He knows basic commands and listens well. Likes: Playing fetch, belly rubs, car rides, playing with his toys and chewing on bones. Dislikes: None known. Personality: Sweet, happy, and lovable. Temperament: Easy-going and happy. Energy level: Medium energy level; after a walk or playing fetch, Ruger will take a long nap. Favorite activities: Playing fetch and taking naps. Good with cats, dogs, and kids (over 6)?: Unknown about cats, but Ruger is a great playmate with other dogs (including a 3 month old puppy and a 12-year-old terrier). He plays well and seems to know how rough he can play. Ruger is very gentle with children as young as 2. Not good with: None known. Housetrained: Yes! No accidents in the house. He is completely housebroken. Crate trained: Yes, he is crate-trained and no issues with going into his crate for naps and at night. Requires a fenced yard (physical fence and/or invisible fence)? Ruger would do well with either a physical or invisible fence where he can run and play; or taken outside on a leash. He does come when called. Walks well on a leash? He walks well on a leash with some pulling. Much better walking when he wears a harness. Challenges: Keeping his head off kitchen counters. Given his height and curiosity, Ruger loves to surf the countertops and will eat or lick any food residue or dishes. Currently, he is restricted from the kitchen except for his mealtimes. He also thinks he is a lapdog and is working on not climbing on furniture and/or laps. Any Medical issues? Ruger is currently on meds for a stomach parasite, but should be feeling better quickly! What would be the best kind of home? A loving home that will appreciate this beautiful, happy boy. Space to run and play fetch.
