About Fozzie

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Fawn
  • Current Size: 128 Pounds
  • Current Age: 5 Years 2 Months (best estimate)
  • Housetrained: Yes

Fozzie is roughly 2 years old and is a very handsome example of a male Old English Mastiff.

Likes:  Fozzie loves hugs, giving kisses to his family, scratches behind the ear, and belly rubs.  He really enjoys his daily walks and laying around in his fenced in backyard too!

Dislikes: None

Personality: Once he feels comfortable with his people, Fozzie shows his great personality and wants nothing more than to be a part of a loving family that he can call his own.  He’s so handsome and confident that he trots around the house with his tail wagging in circles like a helicopter.  You can see the love in his eyes and heart – he’s such a sweet little man!

Temperament: Fozzie is very tolerant of other dogs and the cat he lives with.  He takes treats gently  and loves to lay next to his foster mom’s desk while she is working.

Energy level: Low… enjoys his walks but is happy to lounge around in his backyard and soak up the sun.

Favorite activities: Kissing and hugging his family, walks, and following his family around the house.  He has just started discovering and playing with toys.

Good with cats, dogs, and kids (over 6)?:  He’s great with other dogs and is fine with his foster sibling cat.  Has not been tested with children. For this reason Fozzie should not be in a home with young children.

Not good with: Strangers.  Fozzie requires slow introductions as he has a definite fear of unknown people.  Fozzie was a stray and is still working on trusting humans.

Housetrained: Fozzie is fully house trained and trustworthy not to be destructive when left at home alone.

Crate trained: No.  Crate has not been necessary.

Requires a fenced yard (physical fence and/or invisible fence)? Yes

Walks well on a leash? Definitely!  He loves his walks.

Challenges: Strangers are an issue for Fozzie.  He is slow to warm up and would need time and space to approach strangers at his pace.  When given time, he will learn to trust again.

Any Medical issues? No

What would be the best kind of home?  A low activity household with a fenced in yard that allows him time to get used to strangers.  Fozzie’s new family would need to have the patience to allow him to adjust to his new environment and give him time to warm up to his family.  Once he has trust in you, he is a FANTASTIC DOG - incredibly loving and caring and he gives the best kisses.

FOZZIE IS LOCATED IN BELHAVEN, NC.
