Bullmastiff (short coat) : : Female (not spayed) : : Young : : Medium Learn more about the Bullmastiff.
Kallie had a rough start in life but holds no grudges. She is 60 pounds of pure sweetness. She is wary/skittish around new people, but once you have earned her trust she will reward you with the best cuddles and kisses. She gets along well with the 2 dogs who live in her foster home and plays especially well with the female mastiff who is around the same age (1 year). She was introduced to a visiting cat and didn’t show any interest at all. She is not destructive and can be left to free roam in the house. She is still working on being completely house trained but has made great strides. She is not a fan of being in a crate. Likes: Being close to the people she trusts, belly rubs, playing with toys and FOOD. Dislikes: Loud noises/commotion and baths, but that might change once she feels completely safe. Temperament: Kallie is still coming out of her shell but shows more and more of her personality every day. She is very sweet, timid, smart and inquisitive. She is playful and enjoys being with and playing with other dogs. Energy Level: She is medium energy, likes to play in the fenced yard with her foster sister but is also happy to quietly snooze on the couch or her bed. Favorite activities : Chewies, eating, playing and snuggles. Good with: Dogs, cats and older children. She would not do well in a bustling household with young children. Housetrained: Working on it! Crate Trained: No Requires a fenced yard: Yes. At the moment the world is a scary place for Kallie so walks can be stressful for her. Walks well on a leash? She will need leash training. Challenges: Because of periods of extreme hunger in her past, Kallie eats like every meal is her last. She has not shown any food aggression but will gulp her food down and then try to steal food from the other dogs. She is being fed separately in a slow feeder bowl which has helped. She is also still working on being completely house trained but has made a lot of progress. Medical Issues : None, needs to be spayed. What would be the best kind of home? Kallie would do best in a quiet home with another confident dog or 2 to learn from. Kallie’s adopter will need to be an experienced dog owner who is extremely patient and be willing to take it slow to earn her trust. She desperately wants to love and be loved and is so worth the effort when she starts to trust and snuggles up next to you.
