At the request of County officials, Mastiffs to Mutts took in 13 of 18 Bullmastiffs from the property of a deceased breeder in Kentucky.  They were all severely neglected; emaciated and in poor health.

All 13 are learning to live inside a home, sleep on a soft bed, receive regular, quality meals, play and receive human affection. All are good with other dogs.

King fka KYID#11.

King is a puppy who wants to experience the world and everything it has to offer. He wants to be a big boy in the best way, and tries to show you he’s learning every day. Loves physical attention of any sort - will engage easily with verbal cues.

Likes: Treats, Being brushed, face scratches, head rubs, butt scratches, foot rubs, mealtime

Dislikes: Doesn’t like being in trouble - very sensitive

Personality: Alpha, very intelligent and curious, playful

Temperament: Awesome temperament - takes meds with no issues, can clean his ears, be handled, very calm at the vet

Energy level: Situational - usually calm and mellow - can ramp up when playing

Favorite activities: chewing ice, walks, playing with his brother, playing tug of war, keep away, chewing bones, playing with soft chew toys and tennis balls

Good with cats, dogs, and kids (over 6)?: Yes - good with them all

Not good with:  typical puppy behavior with chewing

Housetrained: 90% there. Understands to go outside - working on the signal to go outside.

Crate trained: No - but he will lay down in one of his own accord if it has a soft bed in it

Requires a fenced yard (physical fence and/or invisible fence)? Physical fence required - he is fast when he runs.

Walks well on a leash? Yes - but will pull slightly when he gets excited - very easy to redirect.

Challenges: Extremely food motivated - will eat food of any sort if it is left within his reach - not a climber or jumper.

Any Medical issues? Treated for Ehrlichia and ear infection

What would be the best kind of home? Per vet recommendation, one that could take both him and his brother, Kong. They have never been separated. Home should be a calm atmosphere with a fenced yard. Does very well in a pack environment and would be ok with other pets and kids in the home.

Kong is being fostered in Canton, OH.

Puppy Adoption Policy:

To ensure proper house training and socialization, puppies will only be adopted to homes where an adult will not be away more than an hour per day, per month of age of the puppy, up to 6 months.

Certain large-breed dogs should not be sterilized prior to 12 - 18 months of age. If you adopt an intact puppy, you will sign an adoption contract agreeing to have the dog sterilized at your expense at the time your veterinarian recommends. Proof of sterilization must be provided to Mastiffs To Mutts Rescue as soon as the procedure is completed. If the puppy is not sterilized as required, Mastiffs To Mutts Rescue reserves the right to claim legal ownership of the dog.
