Learn more about the Bullmastiff.
At the request of County officials, Mastiffs to Mutts took in 13 of 18 Bullmastiffs from the property of a deceased breeder in Kentucky. They were all severely neglected; emaciated and in poor health. Likes: Music, Treats, being brushed, face scratches, head rubs, butt scratches, laying on anything soft (beds, couches, pillows, blankets), mealtime, chewing bones, tennis balls. Dislikes: Crates - hates them! Personality: laid back; stoic with a goofy streak; total ladies man, but also down to chill with the dudes Temperament: Awesome temperament - takes meds with no issues, can clean his ears, be handled, very calm at the vet Energy level: If he had his way he’d lay on the couch all day, but he loves getting outside for walks Favorite activities: chewing ice, walks, playing with his brother, playing with tennis balls Good with cats, dogs, and kids (over 6)?: Yes - good with them all Not good with: Crates Housetrained: 90% there. Understands to go outside - working on the signal to go outside. Crate trained: NO - not recommended Requires a fenced yard (physical fence and/or invisible fence)? Physical fence required - he is deceptively fast when he wants to be. Challenges: Extremely food motivated - will eat food of any sort if it is left within his reach - not a climber or jumper. Any Medical issues? Treated for Ehrlichia and ear infection; Missing one eye What would be the best kind of home? Per vet recommendation, one that could take both him and his brother, King. They have never been separated. Home should be a calm atmosphere with a fenced yard. Does very well in a pack environment and would be ok with other pets and kids in the home.
