Learn more about the Bullmastiff.
At the request of County officials, Mastiffs to Mutts took in 13 of 18 Bullmastiffs from the property of a deceased breeder in Kentucky. They were all severely neglected; emaciated and in poor health. Likes: Snuggling with his foster mom, running in the fenced-in yard, his cave-like crate, and snacks! Dislikes: Any new situation. Personality: Timid and reserved at first, but once he’s comfortable he will give kisses and endless tail wags. Temperament: Very easily handled. No issues with clipping nails or cleaning ears. Can be pet while eating. Hasn’t growled once. Enjoyed his bath. Energy level: Low, especially for a puppy. Is content with a few short walks around the yard each day and some off leash time in the fenced-in yard, and then prefers to sleep in his crate with the door open. Favorite activities: Hanging out in his cave-like crate and getting snuggles. Good with cats, dogs, and kids over 6?: Dogs, yes. Has met many. Cats, unknown. Kids – he has met some and did great, but might be considered a flight risk. Requires a fenced yard (physical fence and/or invisible fence)? Fence required. Kingston is not a candidate for an invisible fence. Housetrained: Yes. Crate trained: Yes. Challenges: He is just very wary of anything new and spooks easily by random things that can not be identified. Any Medical issues? Kingston tested positive for Ehrlichia but has been treated. What would be the best kind of home? Kingston would do well in a quieter home that preferably has another dog to keep reminding him that it’s okay to trust people.
