Lady is a sweet, timid girl that wants to learn to love and be loved. She will work to get your attention then cower when you touch her. Once she warms up to you, she is friendly and playful, but she needs constant positive reinforcement to ease her worries. Her zoomies will keep you laughing and her tail wag when she sees you will make your heart swell.

Likes: She enjoys obedience training. She likes the one-on-one time, the positive reinforcement and the food rewards

Dislikes:  Loud, sudden noises and movement

Personality: timid and loving, playful once she’s comfortable with you

Temperament: Takes meds well if hidden in her food, does not enjoy eye drops but will allow them to be given

Energy level: Lady is low energy. She’ll play for a short time then sleep the day away in her crate or on the floor near you

Favorite activities: She loves having her chin scratched

Good with cats, dogs, and kids (over 6)?: Lady is too timid to interact with other animals so she tries to ignore them. She ignores the house cats, but that could change. Proper introductions and positive reinforcement is a must to show her what is acceptable. She has not been introduced to kids of any age.

Not good with: Lady is extra timid around men. She will interact with men, but she warms up to women faster

Housetrained: yes

Crate trained: yes

Requires a fenced yard (physical fence and/or invisible fence)? Yes. A fenced yard will allow Lady the freedom to wander off to potty then return when she’s comfortable. She will come when called and is easy to get back inside the house.  Lady is not a candidate for an Invisible Fence.

Walks well on a leash? Yes, she is polite on the leash, but would benefit from training

Challenges:

Any Medical issues? Lady needs eye cream twice a day and her eyes may need a second operation to completely fix her issues.

What would be the best kind of home?  Lady would be most comfortable in a home where a woman is the primary care giver, at least in the beginning. Older, calmer children that are dog savvy around a timid dog and a quiet environment would give her the home she needs to learn to trust and love.

Lady is being fostered in Palmyra, VA.
