English Mastiff / Mixed (short coat) : : Female : : Young : : X-Large
Mara is a sweet loving little girl. She came into the rescue as a stray who was very, very thin. Has since gained some weight. Clean bill of health from the vet! She is up to date on her immunizations and has had her first round of heartgard and nexgard. She has some small scars scattered on her head and body which were most likely caused by abrasions. The vet believes they will fill in with fur. Mara is so friendly. Likes everyone she meets, likes to snuggle and be by your side. She is a treasure! She knows how to sit, shake and lie down. Will get on furniture if invited.
Likes: attention, balls, car rides, meeting new people
Dislikes: little timid with new sounds and things but adjusts quickly.
Personality: very loving, follows you everywhere, likes to give kisses
Temperament: calm, laid back
Energy Level: low to medium. She will go for walks but can also be a couch potato
Favorite Activities: being with her caregivers
Good with cats, dogs, kids over 6?: good with dogs although she sometimes growls when they get too close but when they keep coming she is fine. Very curious about pet rabbits. Think she would chase them so she would probably do the same with cats. Great with kids. Fine with birds.
Not good with: rabbits, cats
House Trained: 95%. Occasional accident
Crate Trained: does not like the crate. Barks and barks and barks. Has not caused any damage when left alone. She is a counter surfer though.
Requires a fenced yard (physical fence and/or invisible fence)? Would do well with a physical-fenced yard 4 - 6 feet -- Mara is not a candidate for training on Invisible Fence.
Walks well on a leash? She stays right with you.
Challenges: build her confidence
Any Medical Issues? None
What would be the best kind of home? Would probably benefit from another younger dog in the household but believe she will fit in anywhere.
Mara is being fostered in Eagleville, PA.
