Gonzo is a sweet boy. He's learning to be a house dog & doing very well at it. He is eager to please & loves to be praised. He is very athletic but not hyper. Likes: Gonzo loves to be around his people. He would like to be petted 24/7! He will happily take a nap with you & just likes to hang out with you. He likes treats & takes them vey gently. Dislikes: Gonzo is not fond of bossy or pushy dogs. He thinks the vacuum cleaner is suspect but he's getting used to it. He does not like to go out in the rain. He does not like basements. Personality: Gonzo is a gentleman with a little bit of class clown thrown in. He is very affectionate. He will nibble on your hands when he's happy & rub up against you asking for attention. He is easy going & will wag his nubby tail to tell you how happy he is. Temperament: Gonzo will let you clean his ears & clip his toenails. He will bark when he hears something but will quiet down when he's told it's okay. He will bark at strangers but as soon as they speak to him he will go & introduce himself. He rides quietly in a car. Energy level: Gonzo is very athletic but he's also very easy going. He would be happy to go for a walk or just go out in the yard & wander around & play. Favorite activities: Gonzo likes to play with other dogs, follow you around or take a nap on his bed. Good with cats, dogs, and kids (over 6)?: Gonzo has not bothered the outdoor cat. He gets along famously with his young female foster-sister dog. Because he likes to rub & lean on you, he would probably be a bit much for small children but would be fine with older kids. Not good with: Gonzo is not fond of bossy dogs but does very well with playful or quiet dogs. Housetrained: Gonzo has done well in the house. He has not had an accident when loose in the house. Crate trained: Gonzo will go in his crate for a treat. He will howl for a couple of minutes but then quiets down & is fine. Requires a fenced yard (physical fence and/or invisible fence)? Gonzo has had a physical fence but with proper training would probably be okay with an ivisible fence. Challenges: Gonzo is still a bit insecure & requires reassurance. He knows sit & down very well but will need some leash work. Any Medical issues? Gonzo tested positive for heartworm disease and is receiving treatment. What would be the best kind of home? Gonzo would do well in a home with another low-key dog for company. He loves to be around his foster-sister female dog. He likes to spend time just being with his people.
