Mia is a 7 year old female Dogo Argentino mix. She also comes from a rural shelter in North Carolina where she was not doing well. After being transferred to rescue in Norfolk , Va she spent 4 years there where her name was changed to Elsa because she was completely frozen with fear. We have given her much to be happy about and along with that her new name, Mia. She would not walk on a leash or play with other dogs and rarely let you pet her without cowering. She has transformed into a well adjusted, happy girl! Mia loves to walk on a leash and although she sometimes puts the brakes on...a stable pack leader with just a bit of pressure can move her right through. She also loves to be outside and loves the company of other dogs. You will find her curled up in a bed of leaves relaxing in the sun on a warm afternoon. Mia is still shy and will still cower if approached too quickly, she is also hard of hearing which may contribute to her insecureness but overall she has made huge progress and now deserves a home to call all hers. Again, Mia will need a leader to continue to overcome her quirks but she is an amazing girl. She is crate trained and potty trained. She rides great in the car. She will struggle with nails so that will take some patience and an extra hand. Mia is also up to date on shots, microchipped and spayed.
