Bane is a 6-year-old bullmastiff/lab mix (best guess from vet) that came to Mastiffs to Mutts by no fault of his own. His owner was a military move to a base that was unable to take him for a 4-year deployment and he felt it best to find him a permanent home. Bane is a great, compact, solid little man that is looking for a full time, loving home to call his own. Likes: Bane loves to go for walks, run in the fenced yard at his foster house, get “scratchies” and SLEEP Dislikes: occasionally other dogs near his high value toys Personality: easy going and food motivated Temperament: Bane is a very social dog that loves people and greets everyone he runs into… he is a busy body and has short bouts of energy followed by LONG naps. Likes to be bathed, brushed, ears cleaned, not a fan of nail clipping. Energy level: he is surprisingly active and then goes into SNORE and SLEEP mode- there is nothing really in between. Favorite activities: Loving with his humans, scratchies on his hind end, long walks Good with: other dogs and all people Not good with: can be temperamental with other dogs around his food bowl as he was a single dog Good with dogs, cats, children over 6? Good with dogs, NOT cat tested but shows zero interest with squirrels/rabbits/birds/neighbors cats on walks or in the yard, good with older teen children and has not been around younger children from 6-12 Housetrained: yes! He always goes to the door and consistently asks to go outside Crate trained: yes- but does not need it after he learned the routine in his foster home Challenges: not great on steps due to arthritis in his back legs- he would do best in a home with fewer steps, but he has greatly improved with his 20 pound weight loss in his foster home Any Medical issues? heartworm negative, fully vaccinated, microchipped, arthritis in back legs and is chubby- records show his ideal weight to be 85-90 pounds and he is currently 95- this should help with his arthritis once the weight comes off which he is already working on :) Bane would do well in a home with fewer steps as he actually recognizes his own limitations and does not attempt stairs very often but can do them. He could do well with or without other dogs and may prefer to be the only one so he can soak up all the love! Fostered in Bridgewater, NJ.
