Drax is approximately 15 months Old English mastiff at 150 pounds he seem to of been in the shelter twice and is looking for his furever home he sweet, low energy and loves being around everyone including dogs
Likes: Give Drax a toy box full of stuffed animals and squeaky toys nyla-bones and he is a happy dog walks wonderful on a leash
Dislikes: There hasn’t been any dislikes found yet.
Personality: Drax is loveable and has a skip and swag to him when greeting a new person he feels everyone wants to pet him. May be a little nocturnal and has a spurt of energy when you want to go to bed but that is where a short walk comes in handy.
Temperament: Drax has a sweet temperament with no guarding issues he will like a good game of tug-of-war with his foster sister or human he is extremely behaved and knows simple commands
Energy level: He is Low key, not high energy and when his puppy energy kicks in a quick 20 minute walk will have him rest for hours
Favorite activities: This summer Drax has been enjoy sticking his body down the two steps of the pool getting soaking wet and giving you a hug afterwards. He loves short walks, tug with any toy especially his squeaky Kong and the reassurance his human is nearby
Housetrained: Drax is trustworthy in any home zero destruction since he does live with a foster sister Labrador who does steal shoes everything has been put away. He is fine without any accidents, eight hours he does drink a lot of water so that needs to be adjusted to how long he stays in a home versus water being left for him.
Crate trained: Unknown- has not been utilized
Challenges: When Drax is playing with another dog he gets puppy excited and a simple “shushing him” will calm him and slow his excitement so he can continue playing seems to reset his energy level
Good with cats, children over 6, other dogs? NO CATS, good with other dogs medium size or bigger, no information on children over 6
Medical issues: Drax has a lump that is on his chest that is being evaluated
Drax would do best in a home with No cats! even though he doesn’t have a high prey drive because squirrels do not affect him. He would be great with another medium size to large dog who does not show Alpha tendencies, seems to copy the personality have another dog and follow their personality he will follow you into the bathroom and hop in the shower with you. he seems to be a “monkey see monkey do” dog who is well adjusted lovable eyes and a happy dog. Drax is best with children six and older only for the fact he might accidentally step on someone younger he has not displayed guarding tendencies with his food with his toys with his bed. A home that has a scheduled feeding time, occasional walks, and car rides would be great! He likes to “go” and his current foster takes him out a lot to socialize- Drax thinks everyone is there to pet him as he displays a skip and a wiggle when greeting you.

Our rescue policy requires the following:
Adopters must have their primary residence in one of the following states: Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, and parts of North Carolina and and parts of New York.
We will not adopt a giant breed dog to homes where the dog will have access to highly varnished hardwood steps inside the home. Any inside steps to which the dog(s) have access, must have carpeting, securely fixed stair treads, or a non-skid surface. We encourage you to remediate potential safety issues while your application is under review, prior to the home visit.
Applications for giant breed dogs must be submitted by the property owner.
Homes with children under 6 years of age will not be approved for adoption.
Homes with children should have a fenced yard.
Pets currently in the applicant's home must have a history of appropriate veterinary care. Veterinary records will be checked.
All references must be checked before any visitation of the dog is permitted at the foster home.
All family members must be present during the home visit to the applicant's home.
Any dog(s) in the applicant's home must have an introductory meeting with the rescue dog being considered, before any adoption can be completed.
Homes with intact dogs will not be approved for adoption. Exceptions to this policy can be found on the Adoptable Dog Page.

The intact dog is a working member of a law enforcement, or search and rescue/recovery team.
The intact dog is registered under the auspices of the American Kennel Club and is actively being shown.
A veterinarian has determined the sterilization procedure would harm the intact dog.
We believe in Force Free Training Methods and do not approve of methods or devices using pain or force to control the dog, or to deter undesirable behavior.

**Puppy Adoption Policy**
To ensure proper house training and socialization, puppies will only be adopted to homes where an adult will not be away more than an hour per day, per month of age of the puppy, up to 6 months.
Certain large-breed dogs should not be sterilized prior to 12 - 18 months of age. If you adopt an intact puppy, you will sign an adoption contract agreeing to have the dog sterilized at your expense at the time your veterinarian recommends.
Proof of sterilization must be provided to Mastiffs To Mutts Rescue as soon as the procedure is completed. If the puppy is not sterilized as required, Mastiffs To Mutts Rescue reserves the right to claim legal ownership of the dog.
