English Mastiff : : Male
Sweet, gentle Elwood comes to us from Texas where he was picked up as a stray. He is a total sweetheart, loves to sleep at your feet, and smile happily while you pet him. He is completely blind.
Likes: treats, being pet, talked to and loved on
Dislikes: nothing we’ve discovered so far in his foster home
Personality: This is one Zen-like, easy going dog. He sits and listens attentively to the world around him, smiling the whole time.
Temperament: Easy-going, calm, sweet
Energy level: Very, very low. Snuggling is his cardio!
Favorite activities: We are still getting to know him after his long road trip from Texas to New Jersey. He had been sweet and appreciative of everything we’ve offered him.
Good with cats, dogs, and kids over 6? yes, yes, and yes; he is fostered in a home with two cats and two other giant breeds. He has shown no interest in the cats and is passive toward the dogs. He adores his 10 and 14-year-old foster kids.
Not good with: nothing we have discovered yet
Housetrained: yes, no accidents and he can easily last all night
Crate trained: yes
Challenges: Elwood is learning his new surroundings, which is tricky when you’re completely blind. He bumps into walls and tables, and needs help getting situated in new spaces. Through it all though, he is trusting and calm.
Any Medical issues? Elwood is receiving care for many wounds on his feet and legs. He has been very patient with us as we tend to his needs. It will take some time to heal, put weight on, and learn to navigate without sight. Fostered in Cherry Hill, NJ.
