JOSIE
Brief description: Josie is a 3-year-old Newfie with an amazingly calm demeanor. She came from an Ohio puppy mill but she is so much more than her story. Likes: Josie likes just about everything and everybody. She is very drawn to little kids and just wants to grandmother them. Dislikes: Josie didn’t much like TV’s and other modern-day conveniences but is learning quickly to accept them. She also does not like to go potty on leash but is perfectly house trained if you have a fenced yard. Personality: Josie’s personality is fantastic! All she wants to do is please her humans. She is quiet and gentle but has so much happy inside. Temperament: we are learning about her but so far, she has an even/gentle temperament. She does not get worked up or mad when you want her to do something she doesn’t understand. Everything is so new to her that it just takes a little time then she will submit or walk away to think. Energy level: Josie’s energy level is low. She could be considered a couch potato BUT she doesn’t know what a couch is LOL! She can get a little excited but that is short lived then she goes back to an even keel. Favorite activities: Her absolute favorite thing to do is go for a walk. She loves being outside and seeing all the wonderful sights there are to see in this great big world. Good with cats, dogs, and kids over 6?: So far Josie has been great with everything and everyone she has met. her foster dwe not own a cat so we don’t know how she will be with them. She has seen other dogs at a distance and has not shown any aggression, just interest. As far as humans go, she has been great with little kids (18 months) to older adults. Josie has met the mailman and water meter reader, both in uniform, and she loved them. She doesn’t even mind when the humans get loud and excited! Not good with: We have not found anything she is not good with… Housetrained: Josie did not come to us housetrained but is learning quickly that messing in the house is not an acceptable practice. Josie has already learned to come and go through the doggie door. Crate trained: Not crate trained yet. Challenges: Josie’s only challenge so far is food. She is not as interested in eating from her bowl, she would much rather steal the food from the counter. But she is learning quickly that the kitchen is off limits. Any Medical issues? The vet has determined her general health is good but he believes she has a grade 3 heart murmur. Josie is now spayed, HW negative and up to date on her vaccines and deworming. What would be the best kind of home? Josie would fit in nicely just about anywhere because her sole is that of a loving grandma but her perfect home would have a large yard to play in or it will have humans that love to take her on walks daily.
