Brief description: Edgar is a 1.5 year old male neutered Cane Corso. Edgar landed at a shelter in Detroit and we were asked to help. Edgar is 137 pounds currently. He’s a XL boy that loves humans and is dog friendly. Likes: Edgar loves his people so far. He is new to rescue so we are still learning more about him. Dislikes: No CATS for this boy. Personality: Edgar is a goofy boy who loves attention. He seems to be high energy so he would enjoy daily exercise. Temperament: Edgar has had no issues with people or other dogs that we have seen. Energy level: Edgar still has puppy energy. He would need a bit a exercise daily. Favorite activities: WEdgar loves to play! Good with: Dogs and people. Has had no issues with strangers yet. True to his breed as he gets more comfortable he would need slow introductions. Edgar tested well with other dogs. Not good with: No cats for Edgar. Housetrained: Yes Crate trained: Yes Challenges: Edgar has not been taught any commands or manners. Edgar’s adopter will need to commit to obedience lessons for Edgar so he can learn to be a great example for the breed. Edgar will need leash training as he has never been on one previously. Any Medical issues? None What would be the best kind of home? Edgar would do well in an active home that is committed to teaching him manners and providing him with the attention he has never gotten. Edgar will only be adopted to a home without other male bully breeds to prevent same sex aggression which is common for the breed. He will also need a fenced in backyard. Fostered in Knoxville, MD. Approved adopters must have their primary residence in one of the following states: Delaware, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, and parts of North Carolina and Kentucky. You must be at least 21 years of age to apply and legally sign our contract for adoption. Applications must be completed by the homeowner. We do not adopt giant breed dogs to renters. If you are renting, and you are applying to adopt a dog that is not a giant breed, permission to adopt an animal must be obtained from the landlord or property owner. We do not adopt giant breed dogs to homes with children under 6 years of age. Homes with children should have a fenced yard. Applications will be denied if anyone residing in the household has a record indicating drug/alcohol abuse, theft, or violence. Homes with highly varnished floors must have non-slip area rugs or mats wherever your animal walks or rests frequently.
To ensure proper house training and socialization, puppies will only be adopted to homes where an adult will not be away more than an hour per day, per month of age of the puppy, up to 6 months.
