Brief description: It doesn’t get much sweeter than Emma. This beautiful big brown Newfoundland girl came to us from a puppy mill and is now looking for her forever home where she can be a pampered princess the rest of her life. Despite being from a puppy mill, Emma is relatively social and has those Newfie characteristics of needing to be close to her people and thinking she’s a lap dog despite being over 100lbs. She’s seems well socialized to people and other dogs but given where she came from, she isn’t used to some every day things such as the vacuum cleaner or hair dryer or riding in cars so her new home will need to be understanding and help her acclimate in a positive manner to new and “unusual” things. Overall, she is a well mannered, sweet girl, who can’t wait to find the perfect family-who won’t mind a lot of drool and hair! Likes: humans, laps, other dogs, fluffy blankets to cuddle in, giving slobbery kisses, yummy food, watching Christmas movies Dislikes: vacuum cleaners, hair dryers, loud noises, getting into the car, being in her crate, possibly cats- she has not met the cat in the foster home face to face but saw her through a baby gate and was barking/growling at the cat Personality: sweet, laid back/easy going Temperament: easily handled, does well in the bath and being brushed, got nervous at the vet but tolerate everything Energy level: low energy most of the time. Mainly just likes to lay around but does run and play a little too Favorite activities: lounging around, laying in laps/cuddling, eating, being with her humans Good with cats, dogs, and kids over 6?: good with dogs however prefers calmer dogs. Has done well meeting new adults. Has not been around children yet Not good with: possibly not cats- barked and growled at the fosters cat Housetrained:work in progress Crate trained:mostly but will bark and whine for a bit Challenges: given she is over 100lbs and when she gets nervous she shuts down and can be difficult to get around. She currently needs picked up to get into the car. Daily grooming/brushing is usually needed- she does well but it can take time Any Medical issues? Currently in good health but adopter should be aware of typical Newfoundland medical concerns What would be the best kind of home?a home with Newfie experience, someone who has the time to work with her on socializing her in a positive manner.
