English Mastiff : : Female (spayed)
I Sassy came to us from a loving home, but her owners were getting older and did not feel like they could take care of her any longer. She was adopted by them when she was 8 weeks old and surrendered to us when she was 6. You can tell she was well-loved and well-cared for. She may be older, but she still has a lot of spunk in her, as well as a lot of love to give!
Sassy absolutely loves attention and affection. She follows her foster daddy all over the house, literally touching him if she can get that close. There is no such thing as alone time with this girl in the house! Beware of your figurines, Sassy’s tail runs at high speed when she is happy. She loves having her butt scratched and going for car rides.
Sassy has the perfect amount of energy for a family dog. She is quiet in the house but can be energetic outside and pull on the leash. She likes to play in the house but does not get too rambunctious. She has not tried to get on any furniture at her foster home.
Sassy lived with two small dogs for most of her life and is living with a large dog and several cats in her foster home. She was quite timid getting to know her canine foster brother. They get along fine now but they don’t play or rough-house together. She showed a bit of fear of the cats at first, especially after she was reprimanded by one of them for showing too much interest in their food, but she pretty much ignores them now. She has not spent a lot of time around kids. Her temperament is quiet and she would probably be fine around children, but she is stocky and strong so older kids would be best.
According to her former owner, Sassy has never had any trouble with housetraining. She can hold it for long periods of time and does not have accidents. She has not been crated since she was a puppy. She does bark and growl at strangers and at noises outside; however, she loves going to Petco and the vet’s office and does not show aggression.
Sassy pulls on her leash and would benefit from some leash training. She is healthy and up-to-date on shots; she has no special medical needs. She will be a great dog for a family who has time to spend with her. She will do best living with someone who does not mind having a shadow! She should do fine in a household with other animals, although she probably does not need to have other animals in the house to be happy.
