English Mastiff : : Female
Mercy is a smart, peaceful, precious pup who has not let her injuries limit her spirit in any way. She is potty trained and will whine to let you know its time to take her out. She is a passive observer who is slowly learning to play with toys and be comfortable meeting new people. She has a fabulous happy tail wag always. She is a bit shy and will hide by your legs with her head down if she isn’t sure of something. She has about 3 more weeks of rest and recovery before truly getting into her REHAB stage where she will learn to swim and be more active.
Likes: Everyone
Dislikes: Pills- no matter how you hide them
Personality: Is still emerging but she is curious and pretty confident given her situation. She is not a velcro dog at this point and just seems so incredibly sweet. Sometimes she can be shy and will hold her head down when she greets other dogs and people.
Temperament: Smart, sweet, and does what she wants. Doesn’t resist much but will pretend to eat her pills and then hide them under her blankets. If she isn’t not ready to come in the house, she will do her best to convince you to do one more lap around the yard
Energy level: MEDICATED but seems very laid back. Slowly starting to see some playfulness.
Favorite activities: She likes to play with toys laying down and then barks at them come back when they roll away.
House trained: Fabulous for a 5 month old with medical needs only a few accidents that were the fault of her human.
Crate Training: She currently uses a play pen due to medical reasons and has not been crate trained
Medical issues: Recovering from Femur/Pelvis fractures/surgery.
Best home for Mercy is one with loving humans who can show her lots of new things but be patient with her through her recovery.
With everything she has experienced so far, she is resilient, happy, peaceful and very balanced and well behaved. She is just learning commands of sit, stay, come.
Fostered in Fairfax, VA.
