Twinkles is an approximately 8 year-old Cane Corso who was found by a good Samaritan walking his dogs in the woods nearby his house. Twinkles was thin, scared and injured. Turns out, Twinkles had been shot! As a result of her injures, Twinkles left front leg had to be amputated. But don’t let the fact that Twinkles is a tri-pawed scare you; she surely doesn’t let her handicap slow her down. She is a “fierce” hunter of sticks. Twinkles is just about the perfect dog. House trained (will whine when she needs to go out and bark to come back in); crate trained and knows a few commands. She loves her food and tends to eat fast, however, she is ever so gentle at taking treats. With proper introductions, Twinkles is fine with medium-sized dogs and, bonus, she does will with cats! She is not fond of large dogs. We feel Twinkles would do best in a home with few steps for her to negotiate. Because of her handicap and the fact she’s an older gal, Twinkles will need to keep her svelte figure. She would also benefit from a daily joint supplement. Our rescue policy requires the following:

Approved adopters must have their primary residence in one of the following states: Delaware, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, and parts of North Carolina and Kentucky. You must be at least 21 years of age to apply and legally sign our contract for adoption. Applications must be completed by the homeowner. We do not adopt giant breed dogs to renters. If you are renting, and you are applying to adopt a dog that is not a giant breed, permission to adopt an animal must be obtained from the landlord or property owner. We do not adopt giant breed dogs to homes with children under 6 years of age. Homes with children should have a fenced yard. Applications will be denied if anyone residing in the household has a record indicating drug/alcohol abuse, theft, or violence. Homes with highly varnished floors must have non-slip area rugs or mats wherever your animal walks or rests frequently.
To ensure proper house training and socialization, puppies will only be adopted to homes where an adult will not be away more than an hour per day, per month of age of the puppy, up to 6 months.
