Mastiffs To Mutts Rescue, Inc.an IRS 501(c)(3) tax exempt nonprofit organization. |
Mastiffs To Mutts Rescue (MTM) is a non-profit organization composed of volunteers who are dedicated to rescuing dogs who are in shelters, abandoned, discarded by puppy mills, or who may become homeless due to circumstances beyond their owner’s control. We are not a shelter. All of our dogs are fostered by individuals or families who have been approved to foster or adopt from MTM. We can only accept a dog if we have an available foster home. Many of our fosterers have their own dogs and / or children, therefore we will not accept dogs into the rescue if they have a prior bite history (human or animal) OR are known to be excessively dog-reactive. Applications to Adopt will be accepted for dogs only if they are posted as Available to Adopt on our website. When a dog is accepted into MTM Rescue, the dog is temperament tested, examined by a veterinarian, micro-chipped and fully vaccinated. The dog is enabled to decompress from his recent experience of the shelter and transport, to adjust to the foster home environment. MTM fosterers use this time to learn about the dog’s needs and preferences, compatibility with other animals, and level of training, all of which provide information for the dog’s bio, and help to ensure a good placement. Decompression time varies, from weeks to months, depending on the dog. If you see dogs posted on our Facebook page who do not appear on our website, they are not yet available for adoption. Please review the Rescue Policy found on each dog’s webpage. Additional information about the application process can be found in About Us and FAQs.
Mission Statement Mastiffs To Mutts Rescue, Inc. concentrates rescue efforts on Mastiffs and other giant breed dogs and mixes. MTM encompasses the following Mid-Atlantic states: Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, and parts of North Carolina. Adoption We are indebted to our adopters. Without them, MTM could not begin to fulfill our mission, and hundreds of dogs would have lost their lives. Everyone who adopts an animal, helps to save the lives of two animals - the one who is adopted, and the life of a homeless animal somewhere who can then be rescued because space in a foster home becomes available. Feel the warmth of a cold nose today! Learn more about Adoption ... Fostering MTM’s success in saving dogs is dependent on the number of foster homes we have available. Without individuals and families who are willing to open their hearts and homes to give rescued dogs safe shelter, food, and care, we can not rescue dogs in need. The more foster homes we have, the more dogs we can save. A giant thank you to all of our fosterers for their selflessness and commitment to the dogs and to the MTM rescue mission.
