Brief description: Macie aka Macie Mae is a 3-year-old, spayed Saint Bernard. She weighs 120
pounds and is on the slender side. Contrary to most Saint Bernards, Macie is not a big drooler
(unless drinking). She was surrendered by her owner along with her sister.

Likes: Macie absolutely loves love and affection. When not lounging around, she enjoys
playing with her canine siblings.

Dislikes: Although she does well when left alone, she would prefer to be in the company of
others. She seems to unfamiliar with toys and is slowly learning how to play.

Personality: Macie is an absolute sweetheart. She has a calm, quite demeanor. She is extremely shy/anxious around strangers. Once Macie feels comfortable and secure, she does warm up quickly and is very affectionate. Her foster mom is working with her to gain confidence around.
strangers by managing interactions with people, offering positive rewards and maintaining a
structured routine. She is curious and adapts rather quickly to new places and things.

Temperament: Macie is very gentle, laid back and patient. She takes treats very gently and
allows her foster mom to groom her, clean her ears, touch her paws and handle her. Although
shy, she did exceptionally well when she went to the vet to have her stitches removed from her.
recent spay and have her ears treated for an ear infection. She also was extremely cooperative while getting a bath. Unless in play mode, she is pretty laid back and prefers to be with her foster mom.

Favorite activities: Macie is very content relaxing and lounging around with her foster mom.
She loves receiving lots of love and attention. Macie has two large foster canine brothers and
enjoys playing with them.

Good with cats, dogs, and kids (over 6)? Macie has 2 large breed foster siblings. After slow
introductions, she has begun interacting with them and enjoys their company. She has been
around older children and should be ok with children of any age. She has not been around cats.

Not good with: Macie is very shy/timid. She does not do well around strangers. She will initially try to avoid them and hide when possible. She does warm up pretty quickly.

Crate trained: Yes. Originally, Macie was not a fan of getting into the crate. She has been
working with her foster mom and now will go into the crate with lots of love, hugs and praise.
She prefers her privacy and likes to have her crate covered. Once in the crate she does fantastic and does not whine or cry.

Requires a fenced yard (physical fence and/or invisible fence)? Not required but would be
nice so she has a safe and secure place to run and play.

Walks well on a leash? Macie is working on her leash walking skills. She does have the
tendency to pull when walking and would benefit from leash training.

Challenges: Macie likes car rides but gets a little scared when her foster mom gets out of the car to get her out. She often will get anxious and will jump in the front seat. She has been getting more comfortable with the process.

Any Medical issues? Macie was recently treated for an ear infection and is a little underweight.

What would be the best kind of home? If you or your family are looking for a companion
that is a big softie and is loving and intelligent, Macie is the dog for you. She will need to have a
patient owner who will allow her time to decompress and gain some confidence around new people. She would do best with an interactive family that would be willing to include her on
their adventures, walks and activities and would thrive with the companionship of another canine sibling. Macie thrives on interactions, love and affection and would do best with
someone who will not leave her home for extended periods of time.
